Domino’s Pizza
The world’s largest pizza chain currently operates around 20,000 restaurants worldwide. Pizzas are prepared in an average of just 15 minutes, and delivery, which is of course free, takes no more than 30 minutes.
The History of Domino’s Pizza
Domino’s was founded in the United States in 1960 by American brothers Tom and James Monaghan. Originally, the business was called DomiNick’s, a restaurant in Michigan owned by Dominick DeVarti.
In 1960, Tom Monaghan and his brother James purchased the restaurant from DeVarti for just $500. The brothers initially agreed to contribute equally to running the business, but James did not want to give up his job as a postman. Eight months later, James transferred his half of the business to his brother Tom in exchange for a Volkswagen Beetle, which they had been using to deliver pizzas to customers.
Today, the world-famous Domino’s Pizza is known for its fast pizza preparation.
